10.10 Vihana Facilities
Vihana Facilities are PvE dungeons for 1-5 players. Players descend through a series of floors, fighting their way through hordes of Vihana. At the end of the facility is a boss. Killing the boss will drop a loot crate containing a variety of possible rewards.
You can check FACILITY REPORTS to see a list of areas where Vihana Facilities have been spotted. Once in area, you will have to search the area for a hidden exit, leading to the entrance of the facility. Assemble a crew of up to 5 players, gather everyone at the facility entrance, and then ENTER FACILITY. If entering alone, no crew is required. Once inside, remember to set your clone. Leaving the facility at any point will cause you to leave your facility team, including if you die and happen to clone in a cloning room not in the facility.
Vihana mobs start with 1 affix and gain an additional affix at the end of each floor, including any mobs on cleared floors that haven't been mopped up.
To open the door at the end of a floor, players must kill the Overseer mini-boss and take its keycard, dropped on death. INSERT KEYCARD INTO TERMINAL will accomplish this. Keycards have a security clearance level, meaning you cannot open Floor 4 using the keycard you obtained on Floor 1. Players can alternatively skip fighting the Overseer if they are able to and wish to do so, hacking the terminal at the floor's exit instead.
Since facilities contain a number of flat XP bonuses, it is required that you are at least level 50 to enter them.
Surges
------
Surges are rule-breaking powerups that improve your character in a many different ways during a run. Surges last only during the facility run in which they were received.
When you open each door to the next floor, you will receive a surge selection option. SURGE SELECT <surge> to make your choice, using the surge's Short Name as input. You can review the offer at any time using SURGE OPTIONS. SURGE STATUS will display your active surges. If you open the next floor before choosing a surge, your surge offer will be overwritten.
To browse a list of all surges, you can use SURGE LIST. To view a particular surge, you can use SURGE SHOW <surge>, using the surge's Short Name as input.
Some surges have multiple levels that you can upgrade over the course of the run. Different surges have different likelihoods of appearing, but once you have selected an upgradeable surge, there is an increased likelihood that you will be offered upgrades for it.
Other surges have only 1 level and cannot be upgraded. A third type of surge provides some sort of instant bonus, selecting these will instantly resolve the effect of the surge.
Surges are unique to individuals, meaning each member of the team will likely have different surges and can pursue builds that complement one another.
In rare cases, some surges also have special criteria for appearing, such as the Weakening Surge, which is only offered to 1 player 1 time during the course of an entire facility. Such special criteria will always be mentioned in the surge's SURGE SHOW entry.
Surge upgrades
--------------
Most actions you take in a facility will reward you with petabytes of Facility Data which can be spent on upgrading your Surges. To view a list of surge upgrades, use SURGE UPGRADE LIST. To view a particular surge, use SURGE UPGRADE SHOW <upgrade>, using the short name of the upgrade as input. To unlock the next level in that upgrade, use SURGE UPGRADE UNLOCK <upgrade>. Unlocking an upgrade is permanent and cannot be undone.
The amount of Data you currently have is displayed at the end of both SURGE UPGRADE LIST and SURGE UPGRADE SHOW.
Facility achievements
---------------------
Facility Achievements are a subset of the Honors system (HELP HONORS) designed to handle the large number of possible achievements obtainable in facilities. Some of these achievements also have honors associated with them, but the majority only exist within the Vihana Facility ecosystem, rewarding either Data or permanent upgrades to your character. Use FACILITY ACHIEVEMENT LIST and FACILITY ACHIEVEMENT SHOW <achievement> to browse them!
Rewards
-------
In addition to all the XP, Data, and junk, killing the final boss will also drop a loot crate. Make sure to gather everyone on your team in the room for when you OPEN it to make sure everyone gets their reward! Rewards include augmentation chips, mods, gear tokens, workshop parts, marks, and 4 varieties of Surge Crystal.
Surge Crystals are powerful objects that are consumed on use. You can use them yourself or trade to others:
1) Weapon surge crystals allow you to add .1% Quality to all your equipped weapons, improving their power. An individual weapon can receive up to +5% Quality this way.
2) Armor surge crystals allow you to add .5% Quality to a particular armor piece, improving your resistances. An individual armor can receive up to +5% Quality this way.
- Each time a surge crystal is applied to a piece of equipment from a weapon or armor surge crystal, it adds 10 IC weeks to its decay time. When maximum benefit is achieved (50 for weapons, 10 for armor), equipment becomes non-decay.
3) Metamorphic surge crystals can be used to transform a mob in the room into an Xeno mob of Omega classification. Omega mobs created this way gain 3 affixes like normal, but ALSO gain the Metamorphic affix. There is no cooldown on metamorphic surge crystal use except during Xenohunts.
4) Mod surge crystals allow you to reroll the effect levels of all the mod effects on a non-player-manufactured mod. Cannot exceed the normal limitations of max 30 effect levels.
Mutations
---------
Facility Mutations are a method of making facilities more difficult, but they also reap better rewards. To view a list of available mutations, use FACILITY MUTATION LIST. To view details on a particular Mutation, use FACILITY MUTATION SHOW <mutation>, using the short name of the mutation as input.
To apply a mutation, you must be at the entrance of a facility and use FACILITY MUTATION APPLY <mutation>. Applying a mutation has a Data cost. The mutation will then be applied to the facility when you ENTER FACILITY. If you APPLY the mutation but do not enter it within 10 minutes, the mutation application will wear off, but the Data will not be refunded, so make sure to apply mutations right before you are ready to enter to make sure you don't lose out on your hard-earned Data.
You cannot apply the same mutation to the same facility more than once, but you can apply as many different types of mutations to the same facility as you'd like. Multiple players can also contribute to applying multiple mutations using their Data.
When inside a facility, you can review its active mutations using FACILITY MUTATIONS.
PvE mechanics
-------------
Facilities contain a range of special PvE mechanics that you may not be used to, very rare or non-existent outside of facilities:
- XP loss on death is disabled during facilities.
- Abilities other effects that bypass mob aggression such as Oblivion Tranquility or Distortion Field are ineffective. You're on the Ishvana's home turf, and it is not fooled.
- Abilities that scan areas such as Nanotech Scan and Cosmpiercer Mobscout do not work.
- Facility mobs are immune to forced movement out of the room.
- Most rooms high roofs, meaning they are indoors but still have mid elevation.
- Some mob channels cannot be interrupted, and are intended instead to simply broadcast that they are coming.
- Some mobs heal themselves or fully heal themselves, in the latter case including subsystems and afflictions.
- Some mobs will pull you up or push you down in elevation.
- Some mobs will detonate, killing themselves after a channel.
- Some mobs will push you out of the room or pull you back into a room.
- Some mobs will track their target, moving to seek out their target if they have left the room.
- Some mobs will redirect all targeted attacks towards them.
- Some mobs are flying.
- Some mobs deliver special purpose-built afflictions with devastating effects.
- All boss fights will include their own unique mechanics, including but not limited to: object interaction, elevation, multi-room attacks, adds, special affix handling, etc. Be prepared to die if you have not figured out the boss' mechanics yet.
Reconnecting
------------
If you disconnect from the game, either accidentally or on purpose, so long as there are members of your team connected and in the facility, you will be able to rejoin the facility run when you log back in. The most recent surge option your team has received while you were away will be available to you in SURGE OPTIONS. Note, however, that unlocking another second floor with an pre-existing offer will overwrite any untaken surge offers, so you will only receive the most recent surge offer.
If ALL players in a team disconnect, the facility instance will no longer exist upon return.
