12.2.1 The Reynolds Group
Better known as Scatterhome, the Reynolds group is comprised of asteroids, not planets, and the cold, dying star they orbit is too far away to offer the chaotic belt of space rock any warmth. However, they still contain a sizeable combined population distributed across hundreds of celestial bodies, though only a fraction of them are inhabited by anything larger than a small mining colony. Indeed, the population has concentrated on a half-dozen of the largest rocks, which have been fitted with powerful engines and set spinning to provide artificial gravity to the inhabitants. The population lives in tunnels, artificial caverns, and deep canyons, protected from the radiation of space by the thick, metallic crust of the asteroids.
Reynolds Spaceport
------------------
The central transport hub for Scatterhome Territory, Reynolds Spaceport provides shuttle transfer service to Haven City, the Blood Ark, Tethan Station, Gunurash Station, Omni Station, and the Scatterhome voidgate.
Haven City
----------
The most populous of the asteroid group, Haven City has the proud legacy of being the rock on which Maddox Khan and the remnants of the human race first landed. Over the centuries, what was once a small and unimpressive asteroid has been built into, built upon, and almost completely covered by a crowded city, until the massive settlement is part space station, part rock.
Oldtown
-------
A district of Haven City, Oldtown was the first portion carved out for habitation, but is in poor repair after being flooded and abandoned by all but the most unsavory.
Bodean
------
The Bodean asteroid is controlled by a number of Scatterhome corporations, their families, and their employees. When Bodean was first discovered and spun up for habitation, deep wells were sunk into its surface with mining lasers, and these "reverse skyscrapers" are connected by an underground railway system.
Ishbi
-----
Ishbi is under the joint control of Humans and Krona, who use it as a stockyard and moon-sized slaughterhouse, raising both oversized insectoid livestock and warm blooded mammals in underground corrals and selling meat to the population of Scatterhome. Ishbi is often derided by people on Bodean and Haven City as being a hick town, and they're not wrong.
Whittler's Hollow
-----------------
The closest thing Scatterhome has to a garden world, Whittler's Hollow is, as the name suggests, completely hollow, and has been engineered for an incredible amount of plant growth. Trees and crops grow on the inside surface of the asteroid towards the nuclear-powered and levitating "sun" that shines at its heart.
Marle
-----
The private security firms that keep Scatterhome's population more-or-less safe (when the money's good enough, that is) are located in offices and garrisons beneath the surface of Marle, which is a mid-sized, mostly round asteroid. Proximity to the security firms has led some of Scatterhome's wealthiest to settle on Marle, where they live in rad-shielded domes on the surface.
NOTE: Marle is a good area for new players to train! From Reynolds Spaceport, take a transfer to Haven City, then type PATH FIND MARLE to get directions!
Solace
------
The mining colony of Solace is a ramshackle community, the sort of desperate place where the very poor go to eke out a meager existence on the edge of the stars.
