94.5.1 Promotional Minipets
Adventuring life can get lonely, even with other spacers around. What better way to stave off the loneliness in the vastness of space than keeping a pet as a companion? Pets range in utility, from fish who may be content to do nothing more than swim around in tanks and eat fish food to more entertaining creatures such as robotic kittens and skeleton-headed gemra cubs. Where do I get a pet? --------------------- Fish are available in stores around the universe, and also through PROMOTIONS. Other pets are available via PROMOTIONS (including the PROMO MARKET) and may also be offered in auctions or through one-time events. Can I name my pet? --------------------- You can! (except for fish) Simply TELL <yourpet> Your new name is <whatever>, and they will happily respond to that name. Please note that organic pets may only named once, while robotic pets may be renamed as many times as you like. Do I need to feed my pet? ------------------------- The short answer is fish need to be fed as they're confined to a tank and at your mercy, whereas other pets may have more freedom to scavenge up their own food. (Though they may appreciate a treat!) Autofeeders are available on the promo market or by unlocking the aquarium room for your ship - which enable you to never have to feed your fish again! What happens if I don't feed my fish? ------------------------------------- It goes to that great fish tank in the sky. What are pets good for? ----------------------- Providing LOYAL companionship, of course. You can ORDER them around, travel with them, CUSTOMIZE them to your liking, and never be alone again. Unless you have a fish. Then they just swim around in a tank on your ship, or in a water room. Very pretty to look at though! You can also XENOZOO SCAN them all for 2 lessons per different animal! How do I pick up my pet? ------------------------ Most respond to PULL or BECKON. If these don't work then you can PROBE it to check its usage line or check the PROMO LIST to see if there's more information on your specific pet there!
