9.5.7 Ship Customization

Ships can be customized with a number of different cosmetic options, including a verbose description. Just like your character's appearance and description, ship customization is a way to make your ship uniquely yours.

To customize your ship, you will need to be docked with a station that has a chopshop enabled - designated by a line of text at the end of the room description that reads: "This is a chop shop."

Chop shops are a way to purchase unique enhancements for your ship. There are dozens of options available at space stations across the galaxy, with more options able to be won through monthly promotions.

Board your ship, and type "SHIP DESIGN" to see the syntax menu.

You will see:

SHIP DESIGN SHOW              Show your ship's current customization.
SHIP DESIGN WARES             List the available items for customization at this chop shop.
SHIP DESIGN BUY <ID> <slot>   Purchase a customization from the chop shop.
SHIP DESIGN DESCRIBE <desc>   Redescribe your ship.

You may customize:

Hull color
Hull pattern
Paint 'finish'
Wing shape
Hull shape
Decal

Displaying your Ship

To display the changes you have made to your vessel to the whole game, type SHIP VISIBLE ON while on board the ship you'd like to display. Currently, you may only display one ship at a time. You must be Captaincy Level 5 before you can use this feature.

Viewing your Ship

To look at your ship, or anyone else's, type LOOK SHIPNAME while standing in a docking bay. If the ship in question is docked and displayed, you will be able to see its unique customizations.
