10.13 Museums
Museums allow factions to collect, curate, exhibit, and research archaeological findings from across the Starmourn Sector (see also HELP ARCHAEOLOGY). The Museums of the three factions can be found at the following locations: Celestine Ascendancy: v15192 Scatterhome: v15176 Song Dominion: v11357 Individuals may browse the exhibition, consulting curated display cases housing antiquities and hardlight platforms projecting reconstructions of now-extinct living things. To deposit a finding from your archaeological digsite at a museum, you may use MUSEUM DEPOSIT <item> when in the museum. To browse the museum's collection, faction members may use MUSEUM COLLECTION to browse a list and MUSEUM SHOW <FOSSIL|ANTIQUITY> <#> to view particular entries. For everything related to conducting research on fossils and antiquities to make Discoveries about them, see HELP RESEARCH. Museum curation --------------- Individuals with the Curator power in a faction have access to a range of extra commands and some unique powers. Firstly, only Curators are able to DROP anything in a museum. The commands below referenced the particular item IDs of specific instances of fossils, fragments, and restored antiquities. To obtain these, use MUSEUM SHOW <FOSSIL|ANTIQUITY> <#> ITEMS. The ID numbers displayed in MUSEUM COLLECTION are IDs for the antiquity or fossil record as a whole, whereas the IDs displayed via ITEMS are the IDs of each particular deposited instance. When all the fragments of an antiquity have been deposited, Curators in the backrooms of the museum may use MUSEUM RESTORE [fragment#] [fragment#] ... to combine multiple specific fragment items into one assembled and restored antiquity. The visualization of resequenced DNA can be exhibited on hardlight display platforms in the museum's rooms using MUSEUM EXHIBIT FOSSIL <#> <platform>. Individual fragment and antiquity items can be exhibited on display cases using MUSEUM EXHIBT <FRAGMENT|ANTIQUITY> <#> <case>. Both the hardlight platform and display cases can be obtained via the displaycase_(museum) and the platform_(museum) Furnishing design patterns. While placed in museums and containing exhibited materials, cases and platforms are protected from decay by default. To empty a display case or remove a visualization from a hardlight platform, use MUSEUM EMPTY <platform|case>. You may also write on platforms and cases if you wish to provide museum guests with more information about its exhibited contents, using MUSEUM WRITE <platform|case>. Curators may also consult the logs of a Museum, which contains information about deposited items and ongoing research, using MUSEUM LOG READ [#] and MUSEUM LOG WRITE <message>. Finally, Curators are able to remodel the museum to their liking. MUSEUM DESCRIBE will enter you into the editor to rewrite the room's description, whereas MUSEUM RETITLE <title> will allow you to rewrite the room's short name. These actions cost 100,000 marks each, charged to your faction, each on their own separate 8 hour cooldown.
