9.5 The Ship Forge
Everything you need to know about supplying your ship, stocking it with supplies, or building a new one starts with the command: SHIPFORGE -or- SF Entering the Shipforge ---------------------- To buy supplies, components, and modules for an existing ship, first you need to place your ship in the shipforge. SF ENTER Place your ship in the shipforge. SF COMPONENTS View components for sale. SF MODULES View modules for sale. SF INSPECT View details about a component/module. SF INSTALL Add a component/module to cart. SF UNINSTALL Uninstall a module. SF SUPPLIES View consumables/supplies for sale. SF LOAD Load supplies into cargo. SF UNDO Remove supplies from cargo. SF CART View all pending purchases. SF CHECKOUT Make purchases and exit the shipforge. SF CANCEL Clear the cart and exit the shipforge. Building a Ship --------------- If and when you are ready for a brand-new ship, you will need to head to a station that offers the type of ship you want (see HELP SHIP TYPES), enter the shipforge, and then: SF NEW <short> <name> Begin creation of a new ship. Short name is a single word to make it easier to reference your ship; full name is what will be displayed any time your ship is referenced. For example: SF NEW starcruiser The Galactic StarCruiser Next you need to select a superstructure model (see HELP SUPERSTRUCTURES). To view what is available: SF MODELS List models available at this station. SF MODEL INFO <#> View model details. SF MODEL <#> Select a superstructure for the new ship. Next you will want to load up your ship with required components (HELP COMPONENTS) and, optionally, some modules (HELP MODULES)! These are also selected in the shipforge as mentioned above. Shortcuts --------- There are two possible shortcuts for building a new ship: cloning and templates. Cloning a ship refers to duplicating the configuration of a ship that you own. Templates are similar, but they are configurations available to anyone in your faction. To use a faction template, begin creating a new ship as above. Then, instead of viewing SF MODELS, use the following to view and then select: SF TEMPLATES View available templates. To clone a template, use SF CLONE <#> Clone a template.
