16.6.2 S-Tech Research & Design
(This is an entry for The Shop Contest 963 A.E. See - SHOPCONTEST)
Shop Name: S-Tech Research & Design
Ideal Location: Omni Station, South from 3208.
Room 1 Name: A luxurious, minimalistic shop front featuring cutting-edge technology.
Room 1 Description: This shop has an open floor plan with elegant, matte carbonweave pedestals that feature miniature representations of the latest in technological gadgetry hovering in the air above them. Glubiflower makes a pleasing accent to the smooth carbonweave displays, the color being sprayed along the edges of each in a gloss finish. Overhead, strip lights integrated flush with the white ceiling provide abundant lighting, their appearance clean and crisp. Holographic wall projections span the length of the shop and display "S - T E C H" in black monolithic font against a white background, the text slowly dissolving into mesmerizing fractal patterns before it snaps back into legible shape. Situated around the writing are a number of different ship silhouettes that rotate about their veritcal axis. Over speakers that are hidden from view can be heard soothing, instrumental guitar music; the volume low so as not to overwhelm conversation. The floor is immaculately clean and made of polished synthwood in an elegant herringbone pattern stained in an inviting dark honey. The classic new-ship smell permeates the air, bringing with it the promise of adventure. Centered against the rear wall is a single rectangular white desk with rounded corners that bears a payment kiosk. A door can be seen at the rear left of the shop. Defined only by its access panel, the door has been expertly mounted to be seamless.
Decor/Furniture: A hypercube kinetic sculpture (design submitted), matte carbonweave pedestals (not yet designed), holographic wall displays, a white slab desk (not yet designed).
Room 2 Name: A clean, well-tidied backroom.
Room 2 Description: This small backroom is clearly designed for utilitarian purposes. A clean carpeted, plain black floor muffles noise, the pile thin but effective. Against the wall nearest the door is a bunch of neatly stacked, elegant white S-TECH branded boxes in various sizes. Empty, they are designed to hold the various gadgets on display after a sale. A small control panel next to the door permits shop-owner access to lighting, music, and environmental controls.
Decor/Furniture: A small desk and chair (not yet designed), a shelving unit (not yet designed), a calendar, a wall-mounted control panel
NPC: A female Jin named Sybil Left-Turn. Dressed in a clean, immaculately tailored suit. Should greet me by name when I'm seen, and greet players warmly with "Welcome to S-TECH! Please feel free to browse our wares, we offer the latest in shipborne and adventuring technologies at all price ranges!"

Part 2:
Why open the shop here?
To reach the most people; S-TECH is faction agnostic and Omni is the perfect place since people frequently pass through it.
How does it fit there?
Omni seems - as the name might imply - like a melting pot of many different things. An S-TECH shopfront is an ideal addition to provide shipborne customizations and advanced furniture items.
What is your character's involvement, why would they be a shopkeep?
My character is the head of the founding dynasty of S-TECH Research & Design. She owns several refineries and an autofactory, so she's established in manufacturing. She's the lead designer of S-Tech R&D, bringing the custom high-tech gear she designs to the masses as a result of extensive field testing innovations during her own adventures. The dynasty centers around the journey, S-TECH is our way of bringing quality of life enhancing advancements to the masses across all price ranges. It's also a front for my character to operate mark-laundering schemes and finance her own adventures through the 'verse (she's a scoundrel, after all). Though S-TECH specializes in shipborne furniture and equipment, it also seeks to provide high end, high quality, technology-based art installations. She is driven by her desire to provide competition to other entrenched dynasty-based corporations through innovative product design and competitive pricing schemes. She's motivated and known among her colleagues for being a capable designer and storyteller, the perfect fit for a shopkeep and scoundrel extraordinaire.
