12.3.4 The Orpheon System

The Orpheon System is the location of Atria, the Decheeran homeworld, and is within the Song Dominion Territory.

The verdant planet of Atria is completely covered in forests; when viewed from space, it has the appearance of a complete lack of civilization, aside from a few spaceports cleared for visibility. Atria is locked in synchronous orbit with its single huge moon, Theia, ensuring that one side of the planet is always shrouded in shadow, while the other side is always bathed in sunlight. This has produced fascinating evolutionary traits in the local flora and fauna, with several types of plantlife on the dark side of the planet boasting natural luminescent qualities.


The Starlily
------------
The Starlily is the main orbital station of Atria, the departure for Decheerans bound for distant suns and the arrival for those returning home. The Starlily is a showcase of spacer Decheeran culture, with its crazy blend of bio- and cyber-tech on display.


Sabiak
------
The capital of Atria, Sabiak is not truly a city, but a giant, sprawling section of forest. The Decheeran mastery of natural landscaping is subtly evident throughout Sabiak, and while technology is clearly in use, it is kept out of sight, either camouflaged or placed underground.


The Greenwilds
--------------
The Greenwilds stretch out beyond Sabiak, mountainous and heavily forested. Where Sabiak is tame, the trees arching overhead like a vaulted cathedral roof, the Greenwilds are wild: in many areas, the vegetation is so tangled as to form a barrier, and in the lower reaches, the roots form complex and darkened caverns filled with the scuttling of insects and the slow pulsing of the heartbeat of the trees.
