Players of Starmourn, you like showing off, right? Of course you do. The month of June has been all about showing off, and we’re happy to announce we’ve introduced a whole bunch of new titles and honors that you can use to pimp your character.
Last week, we introduced a plethora of new honors and titles, and have plans in the work to feature more. Here’s a brief rundown of what’s newly available to you, the players.
- 5 new titles for the top 5 ranks of explorers
- 5 new titles for the top 5 ranks of hackers
- 5 new titles for captaincy, obtained at level 10, 20, 30, 40, admiral rank 1
- 2 new titles for people who complete shopfront honors
- Song Dominion and Celestine Ascendancy leaders can now display their position as a title
To change your displayed title, and to see a list of titles you currently have available, you’ll want to use the CUSTOMIZE TITLES command.
You can also display some of the honors you earn, via the HONORS FEATURE function. You can display MOST of them at this time, but not all. Notable exceptions are the newbie honors (the ones that refer to learning basic game functionality), manufacturing/factory ownership ones, and a few others. To see a list of all the honors you have earned, use the HONORS LIST command.
As always, this is a work in progress and more titles and honors lines will be added. Please feel free to comment in the forum thread with your ideas and suggestions for expanding this list! We’re listening and we want to hear from you!
The Economy Update
We’re working hard to make our new, upcoming additions to the economy as great as possible. Our awesome coder, Garryn, has just finished the first draft of our planetary exploration system. We’re having fun playing around with it, and are in the process of creating unique environments and enemies for you to explore and interact with. Stay tuned – we’ll have a demonstration of the feature when we’ve worked out a few more bugs!
In the Iota system, in neutral space, a fledgling colony of Bushraki settlers has been discovered on a newly inhabited asteroid. Named New Dikamazi, after their lost homeworld, the colony appears to have no immediately malicious motivations – though there are several elements of the area that might be considered hostile to outsiders. Historians and xenologists muse that it is the first fully Bushraki settlement to spring up in some time, the cyborg race previously having been even more homeless than humans. Time will tell how New Dikamazi effects the galactic landscape, but for now, its impact appears to be confined to its boundaries.
OOC: For the next few weeks, we invite Starmourners to enjoy what New Dikamazi has to offer, from new quests and monsters to the items available to be found, purchased, and consumed. We welcome everyone to test out our first dynamically scaled area which is accessible to players of all levels, and enjoy the unique, Bushraki-themed loot. But don’t hesitate to explore, because when our monthlong event is over, these unique event features will be going away again (even though New Dikamazi is here to stay)! Have fun!
Last month, events between two Bushraki factions in Scatterhome came to a head, with lasting implications for the residents of Oldtown. But what happened after that? Where did the defeated gang of Chrome Skulls go? What happened to Kuda Shayato’s daughter, and the strange prize so many Bushraki were so obsessed with for so long?
For the past few weeks, rumors have spread throughout the sector that migrant packs of Bushraki have been seen caravanning in ramshackle spacecraft away from populated areas of space, heading for an unknown destination. There has also been a minor increase in piracy throughout the sector.
On the commsphere, Bushraki chatter is up, and several security watchnets have published infographics showing an increase in the words ‘colony’, ‘dikamazi’, ‘freedom’, ‘settlement’, and ‘home’.
What do these things signify? Where are the Bushraki going? And does it mean anything for the rest of us? This week, join us to learn the answers to these questions! Dust off your accounts and log in at the Sync (8pm EST) on Wednesday, the 12th of June, to find out more!
The big winner of our Next Big Thing poll was “Economy”. We’re very glad to see that our players are just as passionate as we are about the economy of Starmourn.
As such, we’ve drafted up our plans for the next big updates and those plans include
- a new mechanic for exploring planets which will yield commodities – search the wilderness and set up special equipment that will reveal and allow spaceships to come and pick up natural resources from the planets
- specializations in the manufacturing chain
- on overhaul on refining and processing
- various improvements to modding and our daily quest system

We’re very happy to announce that we’ve just finished and released the Faction Engagement Missions – The Cerebral Augment Chambers. Each faction houses one of these titanic contraptions, the purpose of which is to enhance the mental and physical capabilities of all faction members via their mindsims and wetwiring.
Through the CAC, you will perform daily tasks such as killing certain denizens, completing market orders, delivering commodities, defeating enemies in space incursions and others, in order to obtain Report Slivers. These Report Slivers can be fed into the CAC in order to enhance a particular aspect of all members of your faction. These aspects are: increased experience gain, increased hacking/captaincy experience gain, extra damage in incursions, extra damage against denizens, increased stats.
Come learn more about the system on our forums or jump right into the game and start empowering your faction!
May brought a ton of new things in Starmourn and you are missing out if you are not logging in to check them out!
Ship Customization: a brand new feature that brings your ship off the Overhead Map and into the space station, where it can be looked at by yourself and, more importantly, by others.
Just like your character’s appearance you can describe your ship with a paragraph of text, as well as pimp your ship’s look with dozens of options available in station chop shops across the galaxy. Kit it out with snazzy paint colors and finishes, exciting wing and hull shapes, and thematic decals that you can combine to make your ship unique – and uniquely yours.
Shopfronts are better than ever and they have received a lot of love this month, making being a crafter more appealing than ever: you can now categorize your wares and upgrade your shops to obtain additional perks: stock designs instead of finished goods, increase your capacity, obtain even more categories and even change the color that your shops display in.
Modding has been overhauled! WeaponModding and ArmorModding have been redone and now allow the player more control over what they learn and what mods they wish to specialize in. No longer must you search high and low for a large number of identical mods in order to master a specific mod, you now obtain research credit for a manufacturer’s entire catalogue when you reverse engineer a mod. Oh, and you can obtain a weekly SHIPMENT of mod parts and credits in exchange for resources! How awesome is that?
Another round of Classlead changes have been implemented, bringing some needed tweaks and updates to Starmourn’s B.E.A.S.T.S and Scoundrels.
If you ever felt like you missed out on our awesome promotional items, you can now obtain them via the Promo Market that was just implemented where people can freely trade in all the awesome goodies that Starmourn has to offer in its promotional content.
And speaking of promotions, if you ever wanted to ride your own Hoverbike or Speeder, now is the time to log in and check out how awesome they are and get one for yourself from either the promotional chests or via the Promo Market from other players or the mysterious smugglers that sometimes offer them for sale.
All of these updates are made even sweeter by the numerous bug fixes we have put in and the many quality of life improvements that the team has worked so hard to bring to the game (transparency in mob attacks, factory movement, tweaks to jewelry designs, improvement to the base commands and many more).
You should also come check out the forums and see what we have planned next: Factional Engagement Missions, the system where you help your faction as a whole get stronger via the tasks that you complete.
Think we're pretty cool? Tell your friends!
